Acoustic Imaging and QPS Host QINSy and Qimera Workshops in Perth and Brisbane

In December 2016, Acoustic Imaging organized the 5th Annual QPS workshop in Australia. For this edition we extended the workshop across two different locations in Australia, Perth and Brisbane. 

The first day of the workshop covered QINSy and Qarto training, while the second day focused on Qimera. Both days included practical experience with sample data sets or simulators to give participants a better understanding of how the software works and how data flows through the product line.

The Perth workshop had an emphasis on offshore applications for QINSy and Qimera (e.g., rig moves, AUV and ROV operations, anchor handling), while the Brisbane workshop emphasized coast and harbor applications (especially activities related to Ports).

Training duties were shared between Dr. Douglas Bergersen (Managing Director) from Acoustic Imaging and Mr. Frans Nijsen (QINSy Global Sales and Marketing Manager) from QPS. Both have extensive field experience. 

Mr. Nijsen commented “For QPS it is always a joy to meet and talk to our customers, and the best way to do this is to visit them and learn from them how they do their work. Then we can improve the QPS workflows in order to produce hydrographic results in a quicker and better way. QPS would like to thank Acoustic Imaging for their many years of loyal support, and we look forward to returning to Australia next year.”

The workshops were well attended (20 participants at each location) with a diverse range of interests / company affiliations. Social events after each workshop day encouraged lively discussions of all topics inside and outside of the survey world.
