Australian Army Reserve Practical Course run by Acoustic Imaging
Acoustic Imaging devised a customised training course for the Army Reserve to add high accuracy shallow water wide swath mulitbeam echosounder surveys to their already accomplished single beam echosounder capabilities from mobilisation to product generation in rapid succession. The training course consisted of 5 days of alternate classroom and practical sessions working in sequence through mobilising a small, unseen vessel of opportunity from installation, mobilisation, setting-to-work and testing, carrying out survey, processing and product generation. Each practical session was accompanied by a theoretical session and a written exam at the end of every day. The systems used were dual head R2Sonic 2020 mutibeam heads, an Applanix small form factor POS MV, Sontek CTD and Hypack acquisition and processing. As expected the small Army Reserve team were well-drilled in teamwork and worked together in an accomplished fashion to master all skills required and pass each daily examination.
