Oct 2017 University of Otago – Leading the way in Multidisiplinary Research
Acoustic Imaging thoroughly enjoyed a week of teaching practical and theoretical use of the Univesity of Otago’s new multibeam sonar platform. The week long course was attended by 16 research leaders and faculty at the university and focused on their research interests. The impressive group spanned geology, geography, geophysics, ecology, and hydrography in shallow and deep water, saline and fresh regions. Their choice of R2Sonic 2026 with 90 kHz to 450kHZ and multi-frequency acquisition coupled with Applanix OEM and a QPS QINSy workflow, ensures a range of environments of acquisition are possible. Data acquired in QPS QINSy software was quickly throughput to Qimera and Fledermaus software suites for further analysis and interpretation.
The only downside of a busy week was that time passed too quickly! Thanks to all scientists for your participation. We would especially like to extend our appreciation to U of O Lecturer, Emily Tidey, for the effort she put into bringing the group together.
